Chickpeas is an inclusive school. Every year there are some students who receive extra support services through the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE). This might include speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, SEITs, etc. We are flexible with families’ schedules, and welcome support teachers into the classroom as members of the community.

If teachers believe a child could benefit from extra support services, they will reach out to the child’s parents for a meeting to gather information about the child’s habits and abilities at home, discuss concerns the child may be facing in the classroom, and explain the referral and evaluation process. Teachers then continue to work with families through each step of the process, if families decide to place a request for evaluation.
